Dawson McClung

From a young age Dawson has always been a very hands on and fast learner. From helping till the garden to getting his first electric drill at 4 years old. Dawson has always been a fan of hard work and helping do his share.

 

When Monte started First In Finishing in 2010 and Dawson was just 10 years old, he spent all of his summers as a young kid helping out and spending time with his dad. Through this due to the product monte was working with, Dawson had a lot of experience around powder coating equipment. 

 

Once Dawson got a little older and understood more about the equipment, he started getting into a lot of the equipment repairs and unit building. Now it may not seem like it, but there is a lot that goes into repairing powder coating equipment and that's really why Dawson liked it so much. Each time a new repair came in, Dawson loved trying to figure out what the issue was and how to go about fixing it.

 

Dawson graduated High School, attended college and graduated with a Mechanical Engineering Degree from Purdue University. After graduating Dawson started full time at First In Finishing. Dawson then picked up a few important roles in the company that consist of:

 

-Field Service Engineer

Dawson Travels all over the country providing support and Engineering to help customers have a smoother powder coating operation and save money on powder expenses.

 

-Auto System Sales

Due to traveling and servicing a lot of automatic and manual systems. Dawson has a good opportunity to be able to sell needed equipment directly to the customer. This allows for faster installation of equipment and builds better trust between each customer and First In Finishing. 

 

-Research and Development

Using Autocad and Solid works, Dawson has worked on quite a few projects requiring 3D layouts and a good understanding of the equipment. Dawson helps design a lot of the custom made equipment that FINF provides. While also working with Electron on a lot of their systems and layout designs. While also working directly with Electron to design conveyorized line layouts, booths, washers, ovens, etc. according to the customers specific floor plan.

 

-Service and Repair

Dawson does a lot of plant service and repair. He will take parts and units to a specific customer and fix their equipment in their facility. This allows for the best possible turn around on repairs and allows for equipment training when he is done. With his knowledge of both Electron and Gema equipment, he is able to help support many customers around the country.

-Training

From in house training on manual equipment to in field training customers at their facility. Dawson has trained hundreds of powder coaters in the best way to powder coat and to make sure their finished product is how they want it.

 

Dawson is still working everyday to be the best contact he can be to any of First In Finishing’s customers. One of his biggest goals is to provide the best customer support he can provide to all of our customers at First In Finishing
